Film capacitors.
Several advantages are linked to metalized film capacitors when compared with ceramic or electrolytic capacitors, e.g. very low dissipation factors, high rated voltages, much higher ripple currents and very high surge pulses. Together with these advantages, the demand for tolerance stability and long service life from capacitors, such as DC-link capacitors in wind turbines, has become ever more important. These requirements are fulfilled by the "self-healing" properties of film capacitors. These “self-healing” properties are particularly efficient, when the metallization has been carried out with a special fault isolation pattern.

Film capacitors are used in the areas of E-mobility, smart grid, renewable energy, buildings and other domains.
