TASA, Santander, Spain
When it comes to delivering a plant, time is crucial. TASA in Santander (Spain) decided to renew its grain transshipment port in order to stay ahead of the competition.
TASA invested heavily in the new terminal. Before, many process steps needed to be done manually. The challenge was to have the highest food safety and to improve efficiency in a project where time was critical.
TASA's requirements for the new terminal were very high. With the citizens of Santander living so close to the port, the low dust emission technology of the Portalink ship unloader was key for the environmental protection.
To speed up the transport process, TASA wanted to engineer a terminal that used as much automation as possible. Above all, the terminal needed to be improved to be an excellent example of food safety and sustainability in practice.
Within a record time of only two years, Bühler engineered the whole process technology and delivered it to the port of Santander. Now, TASA can guarantee at all times both the quality and traceability its customers are asking for. In this highly competitive business, the new terminal makes it possible for TASA to be successful – now and in the future.
Bühler combined high-efficiency solutions with strict emission control, ease of use, and a fully automated process, the key factors for the success of this project.
A good concept and layout are very important. It is, however, even more important and probably also more complex to construct a terminal that really fulfills the specifications and the original layout. And here, without any doubt, Bühler has done an excellent job.
