In 2018, four Algerian visionaries, Sayfeddine, Rouane, Mohamed, and Amine, founded Freedom Recycling with the ambition to revolutionize the recycling of plastic bottles. Starting modestly, their pursuit of excellence led them to remarkable growth and the export of their high-quality products to well-known companies such as Loginplast in Spain. Thanks to our SORTEX A GlowVision solution and our team of experts were able to support the customer by improving the quality of the final product (plastic flakes) and consequently gaining the trust of large customers.
To date, Freedom Recycling stands out for its successful collaboration with Bühler, choosing Swiss excellence in a market dominated by less comprehensive alternatives. Faced with various proposals, in October 2023 Freedom Recycling chose Bühler for its Swiss quality reputation and for the relational proximity provided by the Bühler team in Algeria.
Their visit to our customer Pellenc ST in Pertuis, France, in June 2023 to see the SORTEX A GlowVision in operation cemented this choice. Testimonials from global brands like Nestlé were also decisive in their decision to purchase Bühler's SORTEX A-GlowVision.
The impact that this machine has had on Freedom Recycling is quantifiable: in one year, production increased from 17-20 tonnes to 35 tonnes per day, with ambitious expansion goals. The sorting precision stands out for its ability to detect the tiniest defects that are smaller than 3mm, including discolored flakes, metals, and non-PET polymers. The SORTEX A GlowVision has exceeded all expectations with its ability to sort flakes of unparalleled caliber and remove invisible pollutants – a technical innovation that has changed the game for Freedom Recycling and its market positioning.
This technological quality has allowed Freedom Recycling to retain end producers, open doors to business opportunities previously inaccessible due to quality constraints related to the recycled material.
Continually in pursuit of progress, Freedom Recycling moves forward with ambitious projects supported by the backing of the Algerian state, which commends their environmental quest. The upcoming opening of their new facility in Oran, planned for the end of this year, heralds the next step of their adventure. This unit, soon to be equipped with another Sortex solution, will target a significant monthly production, estimated to be between 1,000 and 1,500 tonnes.
The collaboration with Bühler demonstrates the power of innovative technology in the service of the circular economy and strengthens Algeria's image in terms of recycling quality.
A big thank you to everyone involved in this project.
