Simon Ghebrebrhan Tecleab is the CEO of Grupo Naval, a multinational conglomerate with strong operations in trading, manufacturing, and the distribution of essential goods, with a significant presence in Angola, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Congo, Europe, and the Middle East.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Royal Holloway, University of London, and has led the group since 2016. Under his leadership, the company has driven over USD 350 million in industrial investments across Africa. Flagship ventures include Foodtec (wheat milling and pasta production), Refitec (vegetable oil refining and soybean processing), and Higitec (personal hygiene products, soap and diapers) Metalespacao (steel and construction material), all aligned with the group’s commitment to strengthening local production and reducing import dependency.
Under Simon’s leadership, Grupo Naval has grown into an organization of over 3,000 employees, recognized for its innovation, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth model. He plays a key role in financial structuring, strategic partnerships with global suppliers and international banks, and leads institutional relations with governments and multilateral organizations.
His strategic vision is centered on the integration of value and supply chains, local value creation, and the promotion of technological solutions in key sectors for Africa’s economic development.
Simon is a strong advocate for African industrialization as a pathway to food security, job creation, and social transformation.
