Dr. Lino Guzzella was a full professor in the Department for Mechanical and Process Engineering of ETH Zurich. After working in R&D departments in industry (Sulzer, Winterthur and Hilti, Schaan) he became assistant professor at ETH. In his research his group focused on modelling and optimisation of feedback control system and on the optimisation of energy conversion systems, particularly in the mobility sector. Between 2012 and 2014 Lino Guzzella was the rector of ETH and from 2015 to 2018 its president. He is a fellow of IEEE and IFAC and a member of the Swiss Academy of Engineering (SATW) and the recipient of various academic and industrial awards. He is now active as a member of several boards of Swiss and international industrial companies and academic institutions. He is also active as a consultant in the areas of energy systems and technology innovation.
