Joh. Johannson Kaffe AS
Together with Bühler, the leading Norwegian coffee producer Joh. Johannson Kaffe has built the world's first and only plant that consumes 85% less CO₂ compared with conventional coffee production facilities. Built almost entirely of wood, Joh. Johannson Kaffe’s new facility in Vestby is one of the world's most advanced coffee roasteries, and an architectural icon of sustainable construction.

Joh. Johannson Kaffe has a long tradition of thinking about the environment and sustainability from bean to cup, stemming back to 1866. The family-owned business is known as “Norway’s eco-friendly coffee roastery”. It’s even a slogan on the bag of its Evergood brand – coffee that can be found in households across the country.
When Joh. Johannson Kaffe awarded the construction contract for its new coffee processing plant to Bühler in June 2017, the Norwegian premium manufacturer expected a consistently excellent flavor and the quality its customers expect, but the plant was also to achieve the lowest possible greenhouse gas emissions at highest productivity. The producer admits their ambitions were “sky high” when it came to creating one of the world’s most advanced facilities for coffee production.
