After 60 years Sortex has a new name and a new home08/02/2007 Sortex celebrates its Diamond Jubilee as a global leader in optical sorting with a move to a brand new purpose built – and much bigger – headquarters at a riverside site overlooking London City airport. It has also changed its name to Bühler Sortex Limited to emphasise its position as a key division of Swiss technology group Bühler AG. Bühler has a respected international reputation in the supply of plant, equipment and technology in food processing, engineering and die-casting. It is present in over 140 countries and employs 6600 employees worldwide.
The new site is also home to Bühler’s UK Sales and Service operations. “The move will allow Bühler’s UK divisions to integrate their activities more efficiently and more cost effectively,” said Bruno Kilshaw, Managing Director of Bühler Sortex.
As he addressed staff on their last day at the former Pudding Mill Lane site, Kilshaw reflected on the past and set out his hopes for the future. As the move was completed he was delighted to make a fresh start with the same dedicated team.
“The trigger for the move was the redevelopment of sites needed to host the 2012 London Olympics. Of course, it was sad in many ways to leave a home where we had experienced all the joys, the thrills and the apprehensions that every company experiences when it works to create a family spirit.
“The good news is that we have new, larger, purpose built premises within easy reach of all our staff. They have settled in happily and while we all have fond memories of Pudding Mill Lane, we have no regrets.
“From a practical point of view, we overlook the river and London City airport. It is a wonderful location as at Bühler Sortex we look out to the world – 98% of our output is exported to 43 countries. At a local level, we are on the Docklands Light Railway and can be in the centre of London within 30 minutes. Our transport links couldn’t be better.”
Kilshaw and the entire Bühler Sortex team would be delighted to meet you. You’ll find them at:
20 Atlantis Avenue, London E16 2BF from 9th July 2007.
