The foundation of good milling

Grain contains impurities and foreign materials. Use the cleaning section to remove impurities, defective material and contaminants, including fungus. We offer both mechanical and optical sorting machines.

 

Degermination

Separating the endosperm

Degermination separates bran, germ and endosperm for flaking and milling. With a surface treatment we gently process the corn, neatly separating the germ, epidermis and endosperm with minimal fines.

 

Conditioning and tempering

Adding water

Water is uniformly distributed on the corn to prepare it for further processing.

Lime water addition and steaming

Softening and cooking the corn

Before steaming, the grits are moistened with limewater. The alkalinity helps to dissolve the hemicellulose, a glue-like component in the corn’s cell walls. The steamer is then used to cook the maize.

Evening out the thickness

The steamed grits are processed into flakes of even thickness.

Improving water absorption

The flakes are dried to the moisture content you need and cooled ready for grinding.

Turning flakes into flour

The flakes are then ground to fine corn flour.
