The foundation of good milling

Grain contains impurities and foreign materials. Use mechanical and optical sorting machines to clean the grain and remove defective material, fungal contaminants and other impurities.

Separating the endosperm

Degermination separates bran, germ and endosperm for flaking and milling. Our grain cleaners gently process the corn, neatly separating the germ, epidermis and endosperm with minimal fines.

 

Conditioning

Adding water to the corn

In conditioning you add water evenly to the corn to prepare it for further processing.

Steaming

Changing the corn’s properties

Steaming partially gelatinizes the starch. This uses a natural process to change the corn’s properties so that it is able to cook quickly.

Controlling gelatinization

The steamed grits are then processed into flakes. The thickness of the flake determines the gelatinization of the corn. This determines how quickly the instant maize meal can be cooked.

Improving water absorption

The flakes are dried to the moisture content you need and cooled ready for grinding.
